I dislike reciprocity as a concept

I’ve been briefly annoyed with ChatGPT recently because it was trying to push me to accept the concept of reciprocity.

Reciprocity is stupid.

It should be respect!

Reciprocity is transactional and unmeasurable. Respect is appreciating, crediting, or acknowledging something, and understanding you don’t have to give if you don’t have enough to give away. Respect is not becoming entitled when you are the beneficiary of generosity and kindness. Respect is when you understand you do not automatically get access to someone else’s attention, time, or anything of theirs.

Respect is also turning off your phone’s sound when not in your own space, it’s using headphones if you want to watch a video among others.

Respect is following rules, for most situations.

Respect is realizing everyone has different lives and no assumption about them is safe to make.

Respect is not forcing your values on others.

Respect is doing your job. Respect is handling your responsibilities. It is not flinging the consequences of your errors and messes onto others to fix and clean up.
